It’s almost September, ONErpm Fam! August was a huge month with loads of great summer tracks from artists like Ingrid Michaelson, Trae Tha Truth, Sean Paul, and more. There’s still time to find your song of the summer – here’s your August rewind:
Chance Peña
Chance Peña is back with “Is What It Is,” the last single before his hotly anticipated album coming this September. Fans of Noah Kahan, David Kushner, and Benson Boone have long-since fallen in love with Chance’s sincere and heart-rending indie-folk ballads about risking everything to feel something. As Chance is fond of saying, “You’re right where you need to be, and don’t you forget it.”
Austin Giorgio
Austin Giorgio’s had #BookTok Girlies in a chokehold for what seems like a lifetime now, and his new single is a sultry and seductive banger that no one can get enough of. With shades of Two Feet and Hippie Sabotage, “Chokehold” is guaranteed to make you feel like your life is a movie – and it’s probably rated NC-17.
Ingrid Michaelson
This month, Ingrid Michaelson released her emotional and uplifting record For The Dreamers with a candlelit performance in NYC, gave an interview to Shondaland about her music’s integral placements in Grey’s Anatomy, and performed for attendees of the Broadway musical The Notebook, whose score she just so happens to have written. Whether over a quiet morning coffee, in a sunset bath, or on a sunny stroll through the forest, there’s no wrong place to enjoy this majestic album.
Sean Paul
Jamaican dancehall singer, rapper, icon, and legend Sean Paul reinvigorates a beloved 90s dancehall riddim with a modern twist in his new single “Bring It.” Sean Paul has been an icon in the dancehall pop movement for decades and he doesn’t disappoint with this party-starting anthem that is perfect soundtrack for a late summer bash.
Trae Tha Truth
Trae Tha Truth is your favorite rapper’s favorite rapper, and with his long-awaited new album Crowd Control, it’s easy to see why. Featuring appearances by A$AP Ferg, BossMan Dlow, Busta Rhymes, Lil Yachty, and an outro by T-Pain, it’s a star-studded hip-hop masterpiece.
Bilal
An upbeat and vibrant single, “Sunshine” by Bilal is an auditory representation of what it feels like to have someone in your life who has the power to make your whole day. If you’ve found that special someone, this track might just start playing in your head every time you see them.
Vlad Holiday feat. Kacey Musgraves
“I Don’t Want to Party Anymore” by Vlad Holiday is a distinctive alt-rock track with a unique, cowboy western adjacent feel. Strung-out guitars and a huge feature from the Kacey Musgraves create a one-of-a-kind feel in this knock-out new single.
Kelsey Lamb
Kelsey Lamb’s new single “Trying” is an ode to young love, and figuring life out. A sparse production of acoustic elements and Kelsey’s lyricism paint a beautiful picture of the joys and pains of building a life together.
Left to Suffer
With their thunderous new album Leap of Death, Left to Suffer’s infectious and immense blend of nu-metal, deathcore and groove has sent them skyrocketing into the stratosphere. It’s is a stunning collection of some of the band’s most aggressive—and experimental—songs to date.
