Artificial Intelligence in Music:
Understand how to classify your releases on ONErpm
To ensure transparency, compliance with market rules, and the long-term integrity of your catalogue, ONErpm has implemented a new “self-declaration” system during the upload process.
The main goal of this change is transparency, not restriction. Declaring the use of AI in a track is for informational purposes only. At this time, all tracks remain eligible for monetization regardless of AI usage, and royalties are not affected.
The 4 Levels of AI Usage
During the upload, you will find four options. Simply choose the one that best reflects your track’s creative process:
-
Human Created, No AI
This category is for tracks produced entirely by humans, meaning 100% of the creative contribution (lyrics, melody, composition) comes from the artist.
Traditional studio tools (DAWs, effects, standard virtual instruments) are not considered AI in this category. If you composed on a guitar or produced on a computer without AI generators, this is your option.
-
Human Created, AI-Assisted
Here, AI is used as a support tool, but the artist remains the creative decision-maker..
AI acts as an assistant (suggesting rhymes, chord ideas, or analyzing elements), but the artist defines the final work. Examples include using AI for mixing, mastering, noise reduction, or production suggestions that the artist edits and finalizes.
-
Human Created, Partially AI-Generated
At this level, AI plays a more significant creative role by generating parts of the music or lyrics, which the artist incorporates into a broader vision.
AI generates content (such as an instrumental, a verse, or harmonies), but the artist develops, edits, selects, and arranges these elements.
Authorship and artistic decision-making remain integral to the final composition, aligning with the industry’s definition of “partial” works.
-
Fully AI-Generated
Tracks created predominantly through AI prompts, without significant artistic input.
The main content (music, lyrics, vocals) is produced through prompts. Human interaction is limited to typing the command and exporting the result. For example, using a music generator to create a complete track with no further manual modification.
Key Tips:
When selecting your option, focus on how the creative content was generated, not just the tools used.
Keep in mind that your declaration may be compared with automated audio analysis tools that detect AI characteristics. Therefore, honesty is the best approach to ensure fair treatment and to prepare your catalogue for future industry changes.
