The Ins and Outs of Spotify’s Latest Artist Tool

In recent weeks you may have noticed a new feature in your Spotify For Artists, or as a listener on some of your favorite acts’ upcoming releases. 

Covered in some detail here, the new Campaign Kit from Spotify offers a centralized toolbelt for sophisticated artists to make the most of the priceless marketing opportunity around a lead-up to and release of their music. 

One of those tools is the Spotify Countdown Page – a native, in-app pre-save that allows your biggest fans to be reminded of your forthcoming project, and helps the editorial team at Spotify know how much passion there is for your upcoming release!

A great way to use this tool is in conjunction with a conventional pre-save, like the ones we generate in our artist dashboard using our integration with FeatureFM. Those pre-saves include the option to save the song on multiple platforms, like Tidal, Amazon, Apple, and YouTube, and you can set up your pre-save link to direct the user out to your Spotify Countdown after they pre-save from FeatureFM. 

By doing so, you can collect their email addresses in the process so that you have a way to follow up with fans after the release to create a second moment for the song besides release day. It’s also an easy method to encourage listeners to create a short form video using your song, see you on tour, or buy your merch. Keeping in touch through a direct method of communication like an email marketing tool is one of the best ways to super-serve your super-fans and make sure that you stay top of mind.
