Topaz Jones Releases New Video For “Black Tame”

The R&B Star Linked With NYC duo rubberband. For A New Video In Celebration Of Juneteenth

Co-directed by Topaz Jones and New York duo rubberband., “Black Tame” invites viewers to a surrealist cookout, with Jones as the host. In the dynamic single-take video, shot on 16 mm film, fragments of the past – in this case, torn artifacts from Jones’ own family album – merge with the present to capture the creation of memory in real time.

A standout track from his album ‘Don’t Go Tellin’ Your Mama’, “Black Tame” was released last year alongside the eponymous Sundance Award-winning short film. Upon it’s release, Rolling Stone called it “The Next Great Visual Album”, while Pitchfork praised the artist’s use of the Black ABC’s as “a concise framing device for his coming-of-age tales and musings on education, family, and music”.
