New Music Friday [10/16/20]

Trace Adkins, Sports, Laura Bell Bundy and Many More!

Look out below! New tunes dropping to make your weekend pop.

Up top is the latest from Sports, whose track “Baby Baby” has already landed near the top of Spotify’s Bedroom Pop playlist and is already climbing Amazon’s Fresh Indie playlist.

Next in rotation is a new EP from Trace Adkins called ‘Ain’t That Kind Of Cowboy’ where the flagship star of Verge Records Nashville puts on a masterclass in country songwriting.

Laura Bell Bundy is back and as powerful as ever. Her latest cover of Cyndi Lauper’s “Girl’s Just Want to Have Fun” left us breathless with its orchestral approach the the classic and Laura’s hauntingly beautiful voice reimagining the lyrics with a slow and soulful lilt.

Following that up is the latest from Emmrose, “Ballad for the Boy Next Door.” With echoes of Lucy Dacus, the vulnerable ballad feels raw and resonant as the songwriter reflects on whether she’s more in love with the idea of love than she ever could be with another individual. It’s a sensation we’ve all experienced — who hasn’t been “tired of only feelin’ so lonely”.

Ariza, The Natural Synthetic and Miette Hope are back at it again with their latest collaboration “Blind.” With lofi, high sung verses and a bumping hook this song will overtake you with peaks and valleys.

It’s spooky season, so it’s only right we get a new single from Spooky Mansion. “Baby’s New Man” isn’t exactly heartache as much as it is wistful reflection on better times past. With a straightaway crisp hip-hop beat, the surf rockers  channel their inner Bahamas and twist it up with a novel take on rhythm&blues-meets-indie a la Twin Peaks. The end result is a one-of-a-kind anthem that’ll stick with you for a long time to come

Don’t expect a late checkout at the “Heartbreak Hotel.”  This new single by RnB maven Dylan Reese features soul-stirring lyricism over a fat bassline.

Following that up, Jacob Whitesides has blessed us with a candid peek at his internal monologue on his new introspective single “Demons”

Next up, “Something in Me,” a new single by Shelby Lee Lowe. With low-sung, loving lyrics, this track has all the makings of a downhome country classic.

Finally, Johnny Gates left us a heartfelt new single “Scotch Tape.” Showing us there nothing you cant fix with great tune and a little scotch tape.
